Just to clarify, this is not fully a memory foam mattress. This has a 1 inch memory foam surface on top of a high density foam. The memory foam itself is soft. The high density foam is quite firm. If you're not into a firm mattress, this isn't for you. Even with the soft memory foam top, it's still quite firm and of course with foam, the firmness changes with the climate. So on colder days, the foam is firmer than on hotter days.The mattress did not have a repulsive strong odor when removing it from the package. It actually barely had any smell at all which is really nice. It lays nice and flat and I didn't have issues with feeling any of the gaps between the pads themselves while sleeping.I found this mattress to be quite comfortable and easy to tote around. It took about 7 hours for the foam to fully expand. However, I did step on the mattress pads individually, remove them from their cover and squished them around to help the process along in portions where it seemed to struggle.I had a goodnight's sleep and I'm happy with the purchase.This bed is comfy get ready for a good night sleep!!! Works great as a guest bed!!I purchased for a guest to use with a lousy sofa bed. The mattress was very comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. However this would never fit with the existing sofa bed and I don’t have the room to fold it and store it. Very thankful for the return policy and I wasn’t losing 250 plus dollars. I never took off the plastic and I was able to use a mattress cover. * * TIP- When I dropped it off at the UPS store I used saran wrap to hold the mattress folded in place.I purchased this for My Cats to lay with me, one Cat has to have her own place won’t lay with me in my bed,They both like it and so do I very comfortable, highly recommendThis IS a good mattress topper. It IS supportive. I think for its price it is great! However... I was looking for something that was SOFT. This is not. It is FIRM. I couldn't wrestle it back into the tiny package it came out of, so I am keeping it. Some other family member will need to use it.Reading the 1-star reviews from the debbie downers did cause me some pause. But I overcame that, bought the bed and could not be more pleased. Look at the big picture - the vast majority of reviews are 4 and 5 stars; there are always a few knuckleheads out there - ignore their whining, go with the majority and you will be satisfied. This is an excellent product! We bought it as a spare bed for when we have more company than we have standard beds - ie, when all the grandchildren descend! It folds away nicely into its carrying case for convenient storage.My infant will only contact nap and sleep so I was two months with NO sleep . Seriously dangerous. I laid her crib mattress next to this and it’s like we’re co sleeping without the fear or risks. I’m 37, in decent health/shape but my back and neck often bother me. I also suffer from migraines. I’m happy with this mattress and the gift at it feels especially laying on a wooden floor. It is genuinely impressive. i would buy again for sure. After we’re past this phase (waking up to nurse almost hourly) I’ll be sure to keep it for a play mat/ folded once to sit on or for guests. Also it comes with a storage/ carry bag with handles. I bought a stretchy jersey sheet from Amazon and it’s perfect together.
