We bought the Sleepyhead 3-inch Gel-Infused Memory Foam Topper for our son's dorm room bed. The goal was of course to improve on the uncomfortable mattresses provided by the college. Shipping was fast, the box was just the right size for transporting with all his other things for move in day, and unboxing and setting it up on his bed was super quick and easy. This mattress topper worked wonders and our son tells us that he finds the bed very comfortable. I highly recommend this topper and will be buying one for my daughter when she goes off to college.Great mattress topper! Our son is 6"4' and 220lbs, the older thin dorm mattress did not provide any support. This was just enough to add a little cushion while still providing some support. Definitely helped improve his comfort and sleep while living in the dorms. Not sure about the "cooling gel" because he always runs hot but he didn't complain about the foam making him hotter like another brand. The washable cover is a nice bonus too. He's moving into an apartment for year two and requested, "can I have the exact same topper as last year, just full size"? That request speaks for itself.Love this topper! It’s so comfortable on my dorm mattress I can’t imagine not having it! Also, no odor on opening m, no skipping & fluffed right up to advertised size.i bought for my grand daughter who is in college. she loves it. it is so comfortable and she is sleeping better. made me happy.The item arrived vacuum sealed and rolled, and within an hour or two of being open the mattress topper decompressed and became a soft and spongy place to sleep. Upon initially opening the mattress topper I was a bit concerned about the quality because after unrolling it and laying it on my bed there was some sort of hard “spine-like” Ridge going up the center the pad, from top to bottom, however this went away on its own. The mattress topper is now at it’s 3 inch thickness after expanding a little bit since been opened and it sleeps like a dream. This is coming from somebody who already had what they believe was the perfect mattress topper long ago but had to throw it away because it was starting to go bad. I wasn’t fully convinced just by laying on it for a few minutes; it wasn’t until waking up the following morning of my first nights sleep on this mattress topper that I was like wow this shit hits right. Upon waking I realized my mouth was so freaking dry cause I slept with my mouth open like a weirdo because I was just absolutely conked on this thing. 10/10I have a Zinus 8 Inch Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress twin in our guest room. I used it for the first time and could not believe how uncomfortable it is. Maybe for someone who weighs a lot it might be OK but for me, who doesn't weigh a lot, it felt like a soft board. Hardly any give at all. So I ordered this Sleepyhead Gel mattress topper. I slept cool and comfortable all night. Very impressed. Having endured our share of uncomfortable mattresses in dorms and apartments, we agreed that a quality mattress topper was a must. After sifting thorough many online reviews and "Top 10" lists, we came across an article in which the author described the Sleepyhead product as the mattress topper he wished he'd in college. Although it's admittedly pricier than other options, we felt it was a good investment (especially since it could be handed down to our younger child in a few years). I can honestly say this has proven to be one of the best online purchases we have ever made! Our son RAVES about the comfort of his dorm bed and has already asked for the full-size version for when he moves to an apartment next year!One of the biggest mistakes my wife and I have made was going from a 20 year old sleep number bed to a $9000 adjustable split king bed with memory foam mattresses. It’s like spending 1000s more on a cantankerous used car than you should have spent, but realizing you are stuck with it for a while.So after a year of poor sleep on a bed that was just too firm I was ready to invest even more on this bad investment. I read reviews about turning a bad bed into a plush oasis, but would it really make a difference on my high dollar high tech bed? More memory foam on top of memory foam?Yes.After 4 nights of sleeping on this topper I am finally waking up without shoulder pain every morning (side sleeper). We did opt for the 3 inch thick version which I believe is crucial. The topper is very soft and side sleepers might not get a full benefit from the 2 inch model.The twin xl toppers have a very slight overlap on our mattresses, and it doesn’t stay put very well, at least for my wife. However I’m looking forward to using an extra extra deep pocket fitted sheet which we hope will eliminate the issue. Full disclosure - we have them on top of a mattress protector which may be contributing to the slide.As for my sweet wife who suffers from insomnia the jury’s still out. She definitely notices the cooler feel of the topper and overall is comfy on it.So do I sleep as well as on my old worn out sleep number bed? No. But it’s getting close.
